Georgia O’Keeffe was one of the first famous American female artists. Although she is best known for her Southwest themed work
and close up flower blossom paintings,
I think her urban cityscapes are the most interesting and original of her works.
You realize when you look at an O’Keeffe that it could only have been painted by a woman. Not that they are feminine; Watteau, Boucher those are feminine ( but of course men) But there is something strongly female in O’Keeffe’s paintings.
